KEVIN MAX

Kevin Max is a four-time Grammy Award-winning artist, musician, poet, and painter whose creative career has spanned more than three decades. Best known for his distinctive voice and groundbreaking work with the band dc Talk, Max has long explored artistic expression beyond music, finding another creative language through painting.

Working primarily in acrylic and oil stick on canvas, his work has been described as a meeting of abstract figuration and primitive pop. Bold, expressive, and often unconventional, his paintings explore the human experience through color, form, symbolism, and spontaneous composition.

Influenced by artists including Paul Klee, Egon Schiele, and Frank Auerbach, Max approaches painting with the same instinctive energy that has defined his musical career. He describes his process as visual punk rock—immediate, unrestrained, and driven by intuition rather than convention.

His work frequently features stylized figures, layered textures, and unexpected imagery, balancing humor and mystery with deeper explorations of identity, emotion, and the human condition.

For Max, painting is another form of storytelling—an extension of a lifelong pursuit of creativity across music, literature, and the visual arts. He also creates collaborative works with his wife, abstract artist Candace Max, bringing together their individual artistic perspectives on canvas.

CANDACE MAX

Candace Max is a contemporary abstract artist based in Orlando, Florida, known for her expressive use of color, movement, and texture. Working primarily in acrylic on canvas, her paintings are expressive, intuitive, and layered.

Her approach to painting is instinctive and unrestricted, allowing each piece to evolve organically rather than following a predetermined composition.

Her original paintings are held in private and corporate collections throughout the East Coast. She also creates commissioned works for collectors and interior designers.

Candace frequently collaborates with her husband, Grammy Award-winning artist and musician Kevin Max. Their collaborative paintings bring together two distinct artistic styles, creating a shared visual language that continues to evolve.

For Candace, painting is an almost trance-like experience, where the outside world fades away and creativity flows instinctively without boundaries.

She is passionate about the value of collecting original art. There is something incredibly personal about bringing a one-of-a-kind piece into your home. Art carries an energy of its own, transforming the feeling of a space and creating a connection that goes far beyond what you see on the canvas.
